I'm not that much of a grinch. Merry Christmas everyone.
We are celebrating with my family by marriage today. We all have a lot to reminisce about from the past year. The hardship and stress of unemployment. Ugly illnesses. People pulling together to make like better for each other. Growth and maturity evident in our children's lives. New lives and reminders of how non permanent everything is.
Around our table today we will have two people who beat the pants off cancer and two people who are currently cancer patients.
This is reportedly the last year Grannie Annie will be tangibly ours...indeed they say the last few months we get to have her in our presence. They predict that she won't live to spring. Ah we hope and wish and long for a different outcome but reality is we likely will be saying goodbye to her very soon.
And so we embark on this year's holiday with both heavy and thankful hearts prepared to celebrate and prepared to say goodbye and prepared to soak up every moment of living with the ones we love and remind ourselves that this commitment is not just for a sentimental time of year it is for all year.
