Christmas Concert

The girls looked beautiful and sang their hearts out.  It was fun to watch their reactions to the play as they watched it from the choral stands.  They seemed to really enjoy the story.

The play was rife with humor designed to tickle the grandparent group.  I mostly groaned and rolled my eyes until I realized that I was being cynical and I should just see it for what it was, a pun riddled, over written play with exaggerated metaphors being foist upon tender young actors who did the best they could!  Wait.  I think that was still cynical....

I enjoyed it as much as one can enjoy an hour and a half sitting on a bench in a very crowded room, craning to see around grey, bobbing heads and raised cameras, trying to time my blinks so I don't get blinded by the many camera flashes in the dark sanctuary, I must have looked extremely charming.
Then there's the shuffling of little ones between acts to sing their cute little songs and lift their dresses over their heads and fart and pick their noses, to the delight of their uncles and the horror of their mothers.
The baby boy sitting next to Faron who totally flirted his little face off with me! LOVE! I had him sticking his tongue out back at me and grinning in response to me.  He even toddled over and grabbed Faron's leg. Precious.  Faron said that we need some grand babies now.  I wouldn't object!

The effort of showering, dressing, grooming myself and assisting the girls' grooming, herding us out and navigating crowds of people who bump and jostle left me exhausted and nauseous but the girls were so happy it was worth it.

I love seeing Jaala mature and grow as a pre-teen she is caring more about grooming instead of just doing the required hygiene routine.  She is finding different ways to wear her hair and seems to be very pleased with the length and thickness of her hair.  I enjoy seeing her take pride in her appearance, and feel confident in how she looks.  I want to purposefully nurture that in her as she grows.

The dress requirement was black and/or white with a splash of red. I couldn't convince them to let me make them red ruffled cuffs, they wanted scarves and scarves I made.

Jaala was pretty done with having photos taken by the time I got this shot, she just barely kept a civil expression, he he he!

The three of us together, one can see the puffy, swollen face and jaw, from medication, and the weight gain from hypothyroidism cause by being thyroid-less thanks to cancer!  Leisha told me that she liked how I looked the only problem was how white I am.  I asked her what colour she felt I should be, she pointed to her arm and said "pink, like me" HA!  Love her.

Jaala is scrunching up to decrease the height difference, it should have been her sitting for this one!
