Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of Jaala IN the new clothes I made her. She tried them on for me to do the final fit, but I wasn't quick enough with the camera to capture a photo.
She told me she would really like a pair of Mama Made shorts and a shirt for her sport day, today. I whipped these up yesterday, but she declared them too fancy for sports and decided to save them for a different day.
Next time, I'll use jersey knit to make her a sports day outfit.
The Specs.: The blouse is made of some white cotton eyelet which has resided in my stash for a few months. It is perfect for a light summer blouse! I didn't use a pattern. I just traced one of Jaala's well fitting t shirts, added a few centimeters for seam allowance and a few centimeters for ease *the shirt I traced was stretchy, the cotton eyelet was not.* Instead of making a tank style, or sleeves, I opted to chop off the top part of my drawing *just above the "boob are covered" line* folded down and stitched a casing for an elastic *it helps the shirt snug more closely to the chest, and eliminates the need for a closure, cause I'm all lazy that way!* I gathered one side of the strap and straight hemmed the other side for a cute and lightly ruffled look then attached them.
The shorts I did use a pattern for. I had one that I've used for her before, and I knew they fit well with few alterations. I have a lovely, loosely woven linen with amazing drape. It is a very lightweight fabric and doesn't wrinkly badly, which is great for linen.
I bought this fabric specifically with Jaala in mind. The colours are perfect for her, earthy, fresh, bright without being loud or obnoxious and pretty without being fancy or showy.
Love!
