I read a lot of blogs. a lot.
I'm here to talk about a feature in the 'mommy blog world' right now. It is near christmas. People are hitting the malls to join the ques to have their beloved children photographed with santa.
What do you want to bet that 80% of the photos of children under 4, taken with santa, are of the children crying uncontrollably?
GAH! So let us break this down. You teach your children all year about "stranger danger" don't talk to strangers, don't give personal details to strangers and don't go anywhere with strangers.
Then you go ahead and plunk your precious, down on the knee of an ODDLY dressed person, whose features are not even visible *an important cue for little ones* and ask them to smile and talk nicely, about their wishes and dreams to someone they have likely never encountered before, or if they're young enough, wouldn't remember encountering, then wonder at their terror? Oh the screams and tears!
A perfect stranger. You sat your child on the knee of a perfect stranger in the name of a holiday tradition.
Doesn't that bother you?????
Bothers hubs. A lot. He is convinced most Santas are pedophiles who haven't been caught yet.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, we've never done it.
No Santa sitting at our house either - ever. Besides, "Santa" is just "Satan" with the letters mixed up! BaaaaaaaHaaaaaaaaaa! :) (I am so funny)
