Command Central

In an effort to make this school term more efficient and less harried, and to garner more reliable cooperation from the girls, we created what I am calling "command central".  It resides on the wall at the top of the entry way stairs, on the way into the kitchen.  Can't miss it!   Obviously, I'm not trying to disguise the fact that this is a family home, from our visitors!

The top left bulletin board contains the homework schedule for each girl, the before school routine and the after school routine.   The bulletin board on the right holds a dry erase calendar, the girls' school timetable, a container of pencils, to solve the ever elusive pencil for homework dilemma and my personal list of reminders.

Beneath the bulletin boards is a row of wire baskets, and a row of vinyl 'baskets'.  Eventually, there will be three wire baskets across the top and the vinyl will be replaced with two more wire baskets.  This is making do for now.
The upper baskets are for each girl's communication folder from school, the central basket will be anything that needs Mama's signature, or Mama's attention, the rest, such as homework etc will remain in their personal basket.
The lower two baskets are where they deposit their clean and empty lunch boxes, ready to pack for the next day,

So far, it works great.  I've seen Leisha, several times in these first two days of school, refer to the schedule before she asks to do something.  Everything is laid out clearly for them so they have a visual of their responsibilities and their free time.  I think it gives them a sense of independence and accomplishment because it allows me to say "thanks for ....without me even asking!"  they like that :D
