Scarves and a symphony

Jaala has been turning into such a little lady.  She continues to be a quiet and mature girl, and yet she is putting herself out there and trying out new things, getting involved.  I love seeing her expand her horizons like this.
She has even forged friendships with two little girls in her class, with similar maturity.  It's such a different experience with my beautiful brownie.

She joined cross country skiing team, school patrolling team, and a choir group called "Symphony Kids".  Symphony Kids is a program run by the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, whereby the students are given an opportunity to learn a classic song to sing and to practice and perform with an orchestra.
Jaala inspired Leishabeth to join, also.  Faron and I had the pleasure of viewing their performance and it was lovely!

The musicians asked that no flash photos be taken during the performance, understandably, they do have to be able to see their music and conductor without being blinded by flashes.  It just means that I don't have many clear photos of the event, just enough to give you the idea.

blurry, happy kids!

Their music teacher is genius, she is using the song she taught these few singers, for the school's spring musical...meaning she has some strong singers, who already know the songs, to help teach the rest of the classes.  The next concert is April 19th.

Since the concert in April will coincide with Easter, the costume for the performance is white top, black bottoms and a splash of bright purple.

I'm one of those who doesn't want to go out and buy new, when I can remake, refashion and make do.  I had some lovely purple knit, left over from some Christmas projects, actually, I even still have, A LOT....so the girls and I collaborated and came up with the idea to make simple ruffled scarves for their purple splash.

I wish they were here to model them for us, but alas, they reside with the ass hat until Wednesday.

2 layers, one wide, one less so
