Valentine's Day

The girls are at an age and of experience in crafting etc that we can do really cool, multi step projects.  Which I am loving.
The cute fart crafts of the kinder years were tons of fun too, but the fact that we can do more things now, is really exciting.  As is the fact that the girls are completely open to trying stuff!

For the "friend valentine card give out" at their schools, we undertook a project I have seen floating around on the interwebs.

Candy Cane Hearts *the chocolate filled variety!*

First we lay mini candy canes in heart shapes (ends touching) on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet.  Melted them in the oven for 4 mins, 30 seconds, then quickly stuck in lollipop sticks and pinched the ends together with icy cold knives.

melted, sticked, pinched and cooling off

Then, Jaala melted a mix of white and milk chocolate in a double boiler.

Mmmmm chocolatey goodness!

Then, we carefully piped the melted chocolate into the hollow parts of the candy cane hearts *we used the plastic bag piping method :)*

And, even though Mama really wanted to just dig in and eat the remaining chocolate, she used her ikea silicone ice tray to make little chocolates.

The cooling products, waiting to be bagged and be-ribboned!

Then Mama, who clearly ate too much chocolate, spent time being silly with said chocolate.
