Beauty is as.............?

I'm a blog hopper. I have many friends and family blogs that I keep up with, but I also read other blogs, a political one by a feminist lesbian, a mish mash one by a writer, a bunch of "mommy" blogs (mommy in quotes because these aren't the typical mommy blogs, they're more cynical and capture the Jerry seinfeld side of life, which I love!)

I was reading a blog this morning that made me want to share some of it with you. It follows in red.

What really matters is that which we think and feel in spite of everything else.
I love it when reality opens my eyes and a less physically attractive man, suddenly becomes incredibly handsome when I’ve gotten to know his soul. I also find it interesting when a beautiful woman who I envied, turns out to be a hateful shrew with the soul and integrity of ant pubis.
Reality makes her insidiously ugly.
Why can’t emphasis be placed on kindness, intellectual depth, sense of humor and shared values?
Hard to do when we’re bombarded by images from the runways of Paris and Milan and of course, there’s Hollywood’s view of beauty.
You must be blonde, tall and thin.
Then the next year, brunettes are in and fashionistas say woman can have meat on their bones this season and still be deemed acceptable.
But note that “meat on your bones” in this case, means a hefty size 6 as opposed to a size 2.
Still, do looks matter?
To many people, they do.
But looks are just one aspect of attraction and certainly the easiest and least labor intensive.
If you base everything on looks, then theoretically, don’t have to seek anything else.
Realistically, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Looks fade.
First impressions are important, but we should allow ourselves to see others as they are internally.

  1. How true. Thank goodness we are so beautiful on the inside too, eh?

LOL!!!! Just kidding. She's right, it's way harder to work on the inside and clean ourselves up, than put on a little makeup.

Unless of course it's a bad hair day...
