I am working in a French Emersion school, with a grade one class. I have 16 students, all are very cute and very sweet!
My first day was monday, which went awesome! The principal complimented my work, as did my supervising teacher.
There were several students who hadn't returned yet from christmas break, but I think I have understood the general dynamics of the class and the personalities that contribute to it.
I have a trouble maker!!! He is so so so cute, and very smart, but oh, he eggs other students on, and encourages participation in his tom foolery.
Unfortunately, like with my own children, I have trouble NOT cracking up at him. If I'm to maintain any sembalance of behavior standards, I'm going to have to stop liking him so much.
What does it say about me that I am drawn to the trouble maker?
*shrug* Don't think THAT!
It merely indicates that I am an empathetic person who understands a variety of personalities.
Don't listen to Faron when he says that it's because I myself am such a trouble maker!!!
I'm truly enjoying my work, my back needs to get used to hunching over grade one sized desks though.
My supervising teacher is a ton of fun! She runs her classroom loosely, which suits me just fine, she has good control of the class behavior, other than that, r espect is the only rule.
Today, on my way out, I got high fives from all the students, except the one who wanted a hug....AWWWWWW! Melt my heart.
Next class, I have the privelage of administering spelling assesments to the advanced readers of the class, and then based on those, I will assign lessons appropriate to their skill level.
I'm really loving how Ms. Robb scaffolds each of the students individually, designing a curriculum that meets their skill level and challenges upward.
So thanks to all who sent good wishes, it truly is a wonderful job to have, making this two years of balancing hard work and studying with mommying, totally worth it!
"Don't listen to Faron when he says that it's because I myself am such a trouble maker!!!"
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be true that if you are attracted to troublemakers, that would make *me* the troublemaker? :-D
Good for you, lovey!! I am not at all surprised that you are getting rewarded for your hard work, and that you are already recieving praise.
ReplyDeleteLove you
As soon as I read that you had a "trouble maker" I knew it would be followed about how much you love him!!! It's one of the things I love about you best friend... you see what others do not. I'm glad there are people like you in this world!!
