Beautiful little hearts.
My girls school is very community minded and instills that in the students from kindergarten on, by having them do service hours as part of their bible class.
Each year, every grade level, of which there are approx 3 classes each, adopts a needy family and provides christmas for them, everything from food, clothing, personal items to gifts for all members of the family.
In order to raise the money for this project, each student is asked to "serve" their family by doing extra jobs for money, and donate that money to the project fund.
My girls worked their little butts off. They shoveled the sidewalk for Faron, (and we have a corner lot so HUGE sidewalk!), they swept, scrubbed, vaccuumed and tidied up for me and they helped Grammy with laundry.
The classes went to the mall shopping yesterday for their families.
Each grade level, from K - 3 raised over $500 EACH for their family!!!!!
Little hands using beautiful hearts to make a BIG difference.
Showing the next generation how to live in and love their community through sharing. I love it.
I love it too!! The girls are already generous, and it is wonderful to teach children that when there is a need, they can work hard and actually do something about it!! Hugs to all of you guys!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super idea. How blessed those families will be!
