Lei's allergy tests went really well, she was very brave. Turns out she's not allergic to anything, but she reacts to everything.....strange? Yes. She has what is called vasomotor rhinitis. Which means her nose gets grouchy when it's hot, humid, dusty, dry, windy, where there is cat hair, dander, mold, pollen etc. Her nasal passages get plugged with an over production of mucous as a result of the nose grouchiness, and her sinuses get inflamed.
They don't call it allergies though, because systemically, she doesn't react to the protiens in the allergens, it's not an histimine reaction, rather it is exclusive to her sinuses and nose.
I picked up the girls report cards, both of them worked very very hard this past school year, and both of them received glowing reports from their teachers!
Leisha is super happy that she will be in her "bestest friend Samantha's class". Jaala is very disappointed that she won't be in her best friend Josh's class, but she will get to see him at every recess! She was assigned to a very experianced and kind teacher, who is very calm and composed and structured. The major comments from Jaala's teachers highlight how hard she worked at reading fluency and how much progress she made through the grade one year. I'm so very proud of her and her hard work, she agonized at home over her reading, spelling and sight words, but by the end of the year, she achieved the 95th percentile in language arts, for all her hard work.
Lei will have to work hard on her fine motor skills such as pencil holding and accuracy in printing, but she is well on her way to independent reading, and she has a grasp of science and mathematic concepts, way above her age level!
Faron got a new job, he is working for a law firm that handles both prosecution and defense law, as well as family law. He was hired as a legal assistant, a job he has coveted for a long time. This is just nearing the end of his first week and thus far, inspite of how busy it is and how much he has to learn, he is very much enjoying it!
We're headed to our family reunion tomorrow, till sunday, Kyle has not confirmed whether or not he understands that I WILL have the girls at the reunion, and he can pick them up on sunday for his camp.
the beach was incredible. so much excitement with rough waves. the last day we were there the lifeguards where we were sitting had over 60 saves while we were there. hardcore riptide.
